It seems as though lately everyone is buzzing about the COUGAR phenomenon. We all know that throughout time women have been romantically linked to younger men. But recently, women have become more open about the fact that they are confident, progressive…and fabulous enough to be unapologetic about dating younger. We love that!!

A COUGAR is a beautiful, confident, intelligent woman over 40 who chooses to date younger men- typically ten years or more her junior. Perhaps it is because those are the men who tend to approach her most often. Perhaps she enjoys the excitement and vigor of a younger gentleman. Or perhaps it is because she simply has more in common with them….

A CUB is a young man (typically 21-35) who adores older women. He is secure enough to follow the lead of a beautiful, confident older woman. He is respectful, sincere…and always a gentleman! And it doesn’t hurt that CUBS are usually H.O.T.!!

COUGARS: NYC is the first reality docu-series about the COUGAR and CUB lifestyle…a new movement of strong, empowered women who choose not to be defined by society’s often unflattering views on women over 40, and who make no apologies for dating younger men! The series follows the interesting and super entertaining lives of four real-life COUGARS: Meli’sa, Shahla, Henshi and Hayne. The IiN TV Productions filmed the pilot for COUGARS: NYC in the fall of 2008. Stay tuned and visit frequently for updates on when and where the first season of COUGARS: NYC will air!

MELI’SA, 40-Something

Meli’sa Morgan is an accomplished, internationally renowned recording artist with several Gold and chart-topping hits under her belt. She has toured and performed with the likes of Chaka Khan, Freddy Jackson and other notable recording artists. With the success and acclaim she has achieved in her career, she is now enjoying the fruits of her labor, and actively seeking her dream man…younger of course! On being a Cougar: ‘I’m at a point in my life where all of the necessities are taken care of; being with a younger, more attentive man is exciting to me right now!

SHAHLA, 40

Reserved, yet confident…Shahla is definitely the most ‘conservative’ Cougar. Raised in a traditional Muslim household, Shahla is a bit of an enigma to her family, who feel that she should already be married with several children by now. But she cannot avoid the fact that she loves younger men, and her exotic beauty, intelligence, elegance and innocent nature tends to draw in a bevvy of gorgeous younger men who vie for her attention wherever she goes! On being a Cougar, Shahla states: ‘A COUGAR is a confident, beautiful, sexy and financially independent woman of style and grace!’

HENSHI, 47

Henshi is at first glance gorgeous, sexy and sophisticated. But as all women, she is complex- a driven, ambitious Commercial Real Estate Agent with the prestigious firm Douglas Elliman, Henshi was raised in the Orthodox Jewish tradition. She married young, divorced, and has successfully raised her two sons (19 and 21), singlehandedly. She is now getting back into the dating arena after many years of focusing only on her family. Her beauty and youthful spirit attracts the attention mainly of younger men…and she loves it! On being a Cougar: ‘Growing up in an Orthodox Jewish household, I’ve always sort of marched to the beat of my own drum. Being beautiful, independent and strong, often times older men are intimidated. Younger men ‘get it’…and at this point in my life, I’m comfortable in my own skin and am just trying to be true to myself.’

HAYNE, 52

Hayne is a typical Southern debutante…with a twist: she is a successful entrepreneur, owning several restaurants, including Lucky Cheng’s Drag Queen Cabaret restaurant (NYC)…and her host of colorful friends and associates are absolutely hilarious! Hayne is a walking contradiction- she’s a party girl, but a super successful businesswoman with two Law degrees. She is also a mother of a beautiful and mouthy teenage daughter, whom she loves dearly, and tries her best to keep in line. She also, of course, dates younger! On being a Cougar, she explains why she chooses to date younger men: ‘….Because that’s who’s chasing me!’
